How to Prep for the Perfect Spray Tan
The best tans start before you ever step into the studio. Here's exactly how to prep your skin so your color goes on even and lasts longer.

A flawless spray tan is a team effort, and your part starts the day before your appointment. Prepping your skin well gives me a smooth, clean canvas — which means more even color and a tan that fades gracefully instead of patchy.
24 hours before
- Exfoliate thoroughly to slough off dead skin — focus on elbows, knees, ankles, and hands.
- Shave or wax at least a day ahead so pores have time to close.
- Skip oil-based scrubs, which can leave a residue that blocks color.
The day of your appointment
- Arrive with clean, product-free skin — no lotion, deodorant, makeup, or perfume.
- Wear loose, dark clothing and flip-flops for after your session.
- Bring a strapless top or go bare where your outfit allows to avoid tan lines.
Moisturizer is your best friend — except right before your tan. Hydrate well the day before, then arrive with completely bare skin.
Come prepped like this and you're setting yourself up for the smoothest, longest-lasting glow possible. Have questions about your specific skin? Just ask when you book.
